As a youth I struggled with school, which didn’t sit well with my parents whom both worked in the school business. Accused of being lazy or not applying myself to my studies, I was eventually diagnosed as dyslexic. The only class I looked forward to was art. It was also the class I applied my self to because it was something I enjoy, understood, and excelled in. Coming from an academic family there was a path to success and that meant college. I often refer to myself as a functioning illiterate who had a wildly successful career in Finance. How was that possible? Simply put, I got through high school and college overloading with art classes. In business I saw the solutions to problems differently and more creatively than my competitors.
While studying art I was drawn to Monet and Van Gogh’s use of dots and short brush strokes to create an image. That then led me to Pointillism, then Chuck Close and Photorealism. Now with digital pixels I married Monet, pointillism, Chuck Close, pixels into my art with my medium being primarily paint chips instead of brush strokes.
